Day 2: Rome

After a sleepless night worrying if we would be homeless some pilgrims contacted their local member who sorted the accommodation and now rest their weary bones at the Centre Hotel.

All pilgrims gathered during the afternoon to share adventures and stories which led to an elaborate dinner in an exclusive Italian restaurant. During dinner the infamous and mysterious, 'pilgrimage mascot' was created. All will be revealed to the faithful blog followers throughout the pilgrimage. A sneak glimpse will be embedded throughout the daily photos on this blog.

Highlights for pilgrims today:
* Climbing the 'Sacred Stairs' on bended knees - feeling the pain on each step;
* Visiting major Basilicas;
* Shopping in liturgical K-Mart Fr Paul bought the most wonderful umbrella only fitting for the most high which could also be used for playground duty - What do you think Pete?

Ciao until tomorrow

Day 1 Singapore

St Eugene de Mazenod never visited Singapore, but if he did I think he would have liked it. Singapore is a modern city with an interesting history. There are not many Catholics here and the Cathedral is runned down. However, it's great to have finally started the pilgrimage. Melissa Spiteri, Fionia Hicks and myself are the last three to leave... Oh and Mark Shak who has stopped in KL for the day. We will arrive in Rome tomorrow morning. Our spirits are high but after a red eye flight from Brisbane to Singapore we are tired. The longer flight happens tonight - 1.05am to Rome.
Here are a few pictures of Singapore...
